I'd like to write something substantive and well-researched, but I must rant.

There are a few things I'm getting really sick of seeing. I won't change the world, here, but I will feel better for having tried.

  • Lack of popularity or support being blamed on the liberal media.
I've had enough of every criticism being thrown at McCain or Bush just being chalked up to a liberal media attacking them. The media, overall, is not liberal!! Open your eyes to the facts for a change. Sure, we have some liberal pundits out there. Some liberals even get their own shows. Keith Olbermann comes to mind. But he could be on 16 hours a day and never have the influence that Rush Limbaugh did in the 90s, or that Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly have now. And if you line up the things the few liberals say against the things the conservatives say? The liberals are correct! Both liberal and honest! How many of these whiners watch nothing but Fox for news? If so, I'm sure reality does seem pretty liberal to you. Ignore the spin and opinion and simply focus on the facts.
    • There is no bias involved when we tell the absolute and irrefutable fact that $9.8 trillion of our current $10.5 trillion national debt was borrowed under Reagan, Bush Sr, and Bush Jr. Fiscal conservatism? Small government? It's a Republican myth. Our government only had $2.6 trillion in revenues in 2007. We'll be paying nearly half of our revenue on interest payments. How are our children and grandchildren supposed to pay off this Republican largesse? For the record, Bill Clinton's eight years resulted in record surpluses and actually reduced the debt. It's a fact. Look it up at the Congressional Budget Office.
    • Another fact: Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with September 11th.
    • Another one: Saddam Hussein didn't have any real weapons of mass destruction.
    • These are not liberal opinions. They are absolute facts.

    • More facts: The Reagans consulted psychics for advice. The Bushes consult God. My political spin: They're idiots. Lets consult the real world, instead.
    • The last fact: Shitty presidents will end up unpopular. Stop looking for excuses and accept reality.
  • The mistaken idea that an ideology makes you fit for office.
Being pro-life or pro-choice does not make you fit for office. Being pro-gun or anti-gun does not make you fit for office. Even being pro-war or anti-war does not make you fit for office. General competence, measured by intelligence, behavior, grasp of multi-faceted issues make a candidate fit for candidacy. Only at that point, should ideology come into play. And the voters decide who's fit for office. Quite frankly, I don't care what positions Sarah Palin holds. She could be a right-wing nutter or a freaky lefty socialist. She's not competent. So it doesn't matter. She's not even fit for consideration, let alone office. Can we please send her back to Alaska and forget about this embarrassing pander to the most ignorant among us?
