I believe passionately in wonder. I believe in asking honest questions and striving for real answers. I believe in exploration and discovery. I get excited when I think of the immensity of things that remain unknown. It is our duty as humans to seek out the facts that can fill the gaps and chasms in our knowledge. Not only do I see this as our duty, but I embrace this idea and accept this challenge as an adventure that is worth the pursuit for its own sake.

For these reasons, I must renounce the patriarchal system of revealed truth that comes with religion. I must repudiate superstition of all forms and flavors. I detest faith. It is only through faith that a person can be assured in the truth of something that is not necessarily true. It is only through this false confidence that people continue onward in wasteful traditions rooted in the misperceptions of our forefathers. We must test their ideas and accept those that stand up while rejecting those that fall down.

I urge all people of all cultures and all backgrounds to come together to embrace truth and integrity and discovery. As we seem to inhabit this existence for only a brief flicker of time, how can we choose not to make the absolute most of it? Don't wait for heaven. Don't wait for hell. Don't wait for reincarnation. You are right now living in the only chance you'll get. Make today count! Our world will be the better for it.
